Winning both of its games this week against Claremont-Mudd and Occidental, the men’s basketball team came back after a disappointing loss against Cal Lutheran last week.
“In the last two games, they’ve really come together,” said Head Coach Terry Boesel.
In a close game against Oxy on Wednesday, the Leopards came out ahead, 75-72, after being tied 38-38 at halftime.
“It was a total team effort,” said Boesel. “Different people helped in different places.”
Senior Fitzgerald Moore led the team in scoring with 17 points and had five assists while sophomore Tom Barraza and senior Tom Aiono were also top scorers, each of them scoring 12 points respectively. Senior Bobby Ntoya also scored 15 points.
In another close game last Friday, the Leopards defeated Claremont, 69-66.
Moore was again the top scorer with 33 points and Aiono, with 12 points, helped the Leopards come from behind after trailing CMS at halftime 36-34.
The team is currently tied for fourth place and is hoping to win the last three games of the season.
“We [the coaching staff] told the guys that we have a chance to go out with a bang,” said Boesel.
Boesel has been encouraging the team to “keep playing unselfish basketball.”
The Leopards play Whittier on Saturday at home and will travel to Redlands to play the Bulldogs on Monday, Feb. 19.
