Young and old alike were on hand to participate in the University of La Verne’s first annual Family Reunion celebration which took place May 11 in the University mall.
Many people had a chance to experience a fun-filled day with their families at the ULV campus.
The celebration, sponsored by the Afrikan American Student Alliance (AASA), began slowly, as the intended time of 1 p.m. was delayed three hours.
Not only ULV students, but students from other local colleges participated in the event.
“AASA sent flyers to surrounding colleges in the area. ULV students wanted students from Cal Poly and other colleges to be there,” said Harvel Lewis, coordinator of minority student affairs.
According to Lewis, there was a good turnout for the event.
Many local businesses, including Moe’s BBQ, Donna’s Creole Kitchen and Delightful Dining participated in the event. Other booths, like Street Beat Records, Cottage One Employment Services and A Cut Above the Rest were also available for the families to enjoy.
Dominoes and spades tournaments kept the adults busy, while a party palace was provided for the younger crowd.
