‘Politics, Popcorn’
The University of La Verne presents a free Thursday evening political film series in La Fetra Auditorium. Films will be introduced by Catherine Henley Erickson, professor of English and film critic for the Claremont Courier, and will be followed by a thirty-minute panel discussion on election issues in the film. Films will begin on Thursday, Sept. 26, and will continue every other Thursday through Nov. 21. All films begin at 7 p.m.
IFSC Rush
The Inter Fraternity/ Sorority Council will be holding Rush sign-ups on Sept. 16, 17, 19 and 20. Rush week will be Sept. 22-27. An informational meeting will be held Sept. 20 at 12:15 p.m. in La Fetra Auditorium. Anyone interested in the Greek system is encouraged to attend.
Car Wash
Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity is having a car wash fundraiser tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Mobil gas station on the corner of Foothill Blvd. and Garey Ave. Part of the proceeds will go towards the fraternity’s local philanthropy.
Accounting Club
The University of La Verne Society of Accountants will hold its first meeting on Sept. 19 at 5:15 p.m. in Landis Academic Center, room 101A. Anyone interested in accounting is welcome.
Poetry Contest
Poems are now being accepted for entry in Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum’s new “Distinguished Poet Awards” poetry contest. Cash prizes totaling $1,000 will be awarded, including a $500 grand prize.
Poets may enter one poem only, 20 lines or less, on any subject, in any style. Contest closes Sept. 30. Winners will be notified by Nov. 30.
