Though the women’s soccer team did not finish in first place in SCIAC, that does not mean it is not one of the best teams in the conference. That was noted after senior midfielder Jacqui Zwissler was awarded player of the year this week.
“It was a big honor,” said Zwissler. “I don’t think you can say it was my goal. The league chooses the person that meets a certain requirement. My goal for the season was to do as well as I could and go to playoffs.”
To become an all-conference player all the coaches in SCIAC must vote on the players.
When asked about how she felt about the award Zwissler responded, ” I was shocked.”
Zwissler has played soccer since she was 5 years old.
“I am sad to leave and will be back to support the team,” said Zwissler.
Other SCIAC all conference first team players are sophomore forward Angel Mejico; senior midfielder Jenny Zwissler; and junior defenders Tori Bare and Amber Hall.
Second team players was midfielder Lisa Thomas and defender Jamey Hesler.
