Bienvenida Dinner

The Latino Student Forum is sponsoring the eighth annual Bienvenida Dinner tonight at Davenport Dining Hall from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

The theme is Noche de Carnaval. There will be a live performance by the Ballet Folklorico Xochiquetzal. The dinner is free to students and two guests. For each additional guest the cost is $5.50.

Lily Rosman Lecture

On Thursday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett will speak at the seventh annual Lily Rosman Lecture. The subject is “The Moral Sublime: Jewish Women and the ‘Fine Art’ of Philanthropy.”

General admission costs $8 per person and $6 for all students with a valid ID. The lecture will be held at the Skirball Cultural Center and Museum. Tickets can be purchased through Theatix at (213) 466-1767.

New Films

Opening today in general release are “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” starring Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley and Michael York; “Breakdown” with Kurt Russell, Kathleen Quinlan and J.T. Walsh; and “Commandments” starring Aidan Quinn, Courtney Cox and Anthony LaPaglia.
