More than 100 students are expected to be at the Associated Student Federation (ASF) Forum’s first student activity of the school year. The Ugly Shirt Bowl-a-thon is this Sunday, Oct. 12, at Chaparral Lanes in San Dimas on Bonita Avenue.
“All they need to bring, if they want, is their ugliest shirt,” said senior Julie McDougall, Forum member and Bowl-a-thon Committee Chair. “The shoes and bowling are free.”
“We came up with the idea of a bowling night at our summer retreat,” said senior Dan Lougheed, ASF president. “It was a group idea to have it an ugly shirt bowl.”
The bowling alley will have music and the only lighting will be black lights.
ASF put this on as one of many events for the students throughout the year.
“We decided we wanted something different and new this year, and we have quite a few who signed up,” said McDougall.
“We have over 80 people who signed up, and others who haven’t signed up said they are still going,” said Lougheed.
Sign-ups are at the Student Center desk until Friday at 5 p.m. For those who do not sign-up, they can still show up and participate.
All students are required to show their current student identification card.
The bowling alley will be open to the public, but the University has limited space.
“We have almost three-quarters of the lanes reserved,” said Lougheed.
There will be a snack bar open.
“It’s just a fun night,” said Lougheed. “I hope everybody will take advantage of the activity and bring their ugliest shirt out of the closet.”
