Campus Comment: What are your thoughts on impeachment inquiry?

For only the third time in this country’s history, Congress has formally begun impeachment hearings on a President. Members of the University of La Verne campus were randomly asked their positions.

In favor of the process:

"I suppose it's the right thing to do, looking into him lying. But, I'm just so sick of hearing about his personal life. I just wish they would let it drop." Tara Ervin Sophomore, Athletic Training Undecided	"I think that in any kind of organization, you have to have self-policing techniques. The notion of starting an inquiry is appropriate." I care because he was using Secret Service men and government money to do this, it wasn't on his own time." Darla Shunk Senior, English Unknown
"I'm glad they decided to inquire about it because the truth is important, he's an important role in our society and he should be held to the same standards of truth." Steve Myers Sophomore, Business Management Republican	"I think that he should be reprimanded. I think that because he is a lawyer and he committed perjury, he should be disbarred. "I think it's a step backwards for the Democratic process. I think it's a neo-McCarthyism. Clinton is being persecuted for something that does not involve his achievements or failures as president." "I think its trivial compared to everything in the world. We should focus on Japan's economy, Iran, Kosovo and the possible UN bombings there. We can focus on many more things than a sexual scandal." "I have read that impeaching the president would not be good for Republicans or Democrats or the nation at large. What he did was not a wise choice, but I don't think it's an impeachable offense. "Whether right or wrong it will unfortunately become a detriment to the nation and will drag on killing policy initiatives on either side." Dr. Jonathan Reed Professor of Religion Independent	"I have mixed feelings on this issue. Things need to be cleared up for the public. I believe that the President is responsible to answer certain questions to the public about what happened. However, because of the media, I feel that people are more concerned with the affair than the crime. I wonder if the President had been involved with other crimes besides the affair how would people react." "I honestly am so sick of this scandal because this affects everything. So whatever they do, I hope that they do it soon so that is over.
