The University of La Verne’s Associated Student Federation (ASF) Forum met in the West Dining Room Wednesday, May 7, at 8:40 a.m. Forum members reviewed election results on constitutional changes and the advisory vote result to allocate money to KULV’s transmitter project.
Students interested in running for next year’s ASF Forum may pick up an application in the ASF Office or at the Student Center desk.
Applications are due at either of the two locations by next Friday at noon, and candidates must be full-time ULV undergraduates with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Those running for the position of ASF president, vice president of activities or vice president of advocacy must have attended ULV for at least one semester, with a minimum of one semester of leadership experience.
Elections for the positions will be held at the Seal May 17 and 18 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. For additional questions, contact the Forum at ext. 4677.
Following results from the advisory vote to allocate funds to KULV, the Forum voted to contribute funds toward the station’s transmitter project.
Last week, 39 students voted in favor of allocating $9,819 to KULV, while another 75 elected to vote $10,000 to help fund the station’s project. Because these votes were advisory, the Forum had a right to make a final motion for the dollar amount; after an extensive discussion, it was voted upon that $7,300 be allocated toward the project.
Results from last week’s elections also proved that 119 out of 204 students were opposed to the abolishment of painting the Rock. Because this vote was also one which was advisory, the Forum, as a whole, has a right to make the ultimate decision on the matter.
Following the lengthy discussion on the allocation of funds for KULV, the Forum began to run short on time, and thus voted to table further actions on the Rock issue until its meeting next week.
