Women’s water polo was one for two this week with a tough loss to Occidental and a strong win to Whittier.
The University of La Verne Leopards suffered a hurtful loss, 9-6, away at Occidental on Saturday.
“As a team we were not mentally prepared,” said sophomore Jennifer Pacheco. “The pool was small, half was shallow and it was hard for us to adjust.”
Head coach Tim Hugar commented that Tandis Morgan and Jennifer Brady had exceptional games. She put in three of the six goals scored on Saturday. Pacheco, Andrea Griffith and Brady came up with the other three goals.
“Oxy won the National Championship last year, they are a good team,” said Hugar.
The Leopards played away again on Wednesday and put away a win easily. ULV defeated Whittier, 11-2. Brady was the high scorer in that game coming up with four goals. Morgan was a key player again scoring three goals.
“We played a really strong defense, it helped us in our offense,” said Pacheco.
ULV will begin play in the California State Hayward Tournament tomorrow.
