If you are looking to expand your taste buds a little, the Phoenix Garden is the place for you. The restaurant has a menu that would please even the toughest Chinese food connoisseur.
The restaurant relocated recently from its old location on Foothill Blvd in Pomona to La Verne’s old town.
The Phoenix Garden has done a great job transforming Roxy’s, the previous restaurant that occupied the spot, into its new home on D Street between Second and Third streets.
The ambience of the restaurant is pleasant, creating a good feeling good about the Chinese cuisine.
Its outdoor patio faces the University of La Verne, which will be nice during warm weather.
Diners are greeted with a fresh pot of brewed tea at no extra charge, which is good because there may be a brief wait before a waitress comes to take orders.
But once the order is placed, appetizers are served in no time.
The meatless Shanghai egg rolls are a delicious starter.
All of Phoenix Garden’s dishes are made to order. The food is served on large oval plates with generous servings. Each plate is enough to feed up to three.
The selection of dishes ranges from orange chicken to kung pao shrimp to Mongolian beef. For an additional $2.50, dishes can be changed into a complete dinner, with soup of the day, egg rolls, fried shrimp and fried rice.
The Phoenix Garden has a wide variety of dishes, especially for the serious Chinese food lover, who will not be disappointed with the selection of chicken, beef, seafood and meatless dishes.
The flavor leaves your mouth wanting more. The chefs of the Phoenix Garden use the right amount of sauce and spices to make anyone’s mouth water.
Some items on the menu have a chili logo on the side, making it clear to customers that these dishes are on the spicy side.
Among the items considered spicy are the kung pao shrimp and orange chicken.
These two dishes are not spicy enough to make dinners uncomfortable, but they have a good bite and delicious flavor.
The staff, with their smile and polite service, really makes the eating experience at the Phoenix Garden an enjoyable one.
