Men’s soccer struggles to find win

With a new coach and new faces, the University of La Verne’s men’s soccer team tries to find team centergy.

Although the Leopards have started off slow, first-year head coach Cres Gonzalez and key players hope to turn it around.

“We have already improved a lot from our first game,” said senior goal keeper Derek Ramirez.

ULV received their first break in a non conference game at Cal Baptist Tuesday when they scored their first goal of the season with 23 seconds left in the game.

Emotions were high at Cal Baptist where former ULV coach Shayon Jalayer is in his first year of coaching.

“It took us three games to get a goal,” said senior mid-fielder Josh Miller. “Now we have that forward momentum and we have somewhere to go from here.”

The Leopards will be off for the next 11 days. However, the Leopards will host the alumni game at 5 p.m. Saturday on Ben Hines Field.
