The University of La Verne women’s soccer team won the Transylvania Soccer Showcase Tournament Sept. 11 in Lexington, Ky.

The Leopards beat the host Pioneers of Transylvania, 2-1, by out shooting Transylvania, 18-4.

Katie Ford led the way, scoring the first goal four minutes into the game. Chelsea Riggins started the second half with another goal to take a 2-0 lead.

The Leopards have depth in their squad this year with the return of six starters from last year’s team. This veteran base will help ULV in their hunt for the conference title which begins tomorrow at Ben Hines Field.
