Greek Week Events

Greek Week begins from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 20 is the Coming Soon Competition and from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. the I Like to Move it, Move it dodgeball competition. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. n April 21, is the Legs…Water… Ouch competition and the Tug-of-War event. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 22, is the Greek Series Pop Culture challenge and the Shut Up and Listen lecture is at 10 p.m. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 23, is the Family Feud competition. The week ends with Lip Sync at 7:30 p.m on April 24 in the gym.

Cultural Retreats

The Latino Retreat is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today in La Fetra. The Black Retreat will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 19 in the Harris Art Gallery.

Earth Day and Commuter Day

The Green Initiative of Village Empowerment chapter on campus, in collaboration with the Campus Activites Board, Greek Week Coordin­ators and Society of Physical Life Science Scholars will host an Earth Day Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 22. There will be interactive booths and areas for people to recycle items such as paper, clothes, shoes and electronics. The event is in conjunction with Commuter Day, so the first 200 commuters that attend will be given a free lunch. There will also be free giveaways for guests such as plants and organic snacks.

Memorial Service

The 17th Annual Ohlone “Big Time” Gathering and Pow Wow will be holding A Crossing Over Ceremony to honor the life of Vern Albert Mascorro, ULV alumnus. The ceremony will be held from 6-10 p.m. April 24 at 240 E. First St. in Pomona between Garey Avenue and Gibbs Street. The Chief Chairman and Staff from the Ohlone Indian Tribe requested permission to hold this honor and free admission and parking will be available. The ceremony will be Friday night, but the event will continue the rest of the weekend. For more information visit costanoanrumsen.org.

Ispahani Lecture

Ahmed Ispahani, economist and professor at the University of La Verne, will be giving a lecture called “Struggle for Democracy: Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan,” at 11 a.m. on Thursday in La Fetra Auditorium.
