Sagehens sink ULV in swimming/diving opener

The Leopards’ men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams dropped their home opener against the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer on Friday afternoon. The women’s team came short 164-66 at the finish and the men’s team also fell short 154-87 at the end.

Jaycee Hallford, Tiffany Martin, Niki Affolter and Brittany Orduno came in third with a time of 2:06.54 in the 200 yard medley.

Martin also came in second place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.24 and in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.24.

The women had a few third place finishes; Shelby Broyles in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:02.03, Bethie Ross in the 200 yard IM coming in with a time of 2:26.31 and Erin Morten in the 200 yard free style.

With a score of 151.45 in the 1 meter dive and 295.65, Amanda McCadden placed first in both events. Behind her was Tori Moreno coming in third scoring 136.90 in the 1 meter dive and 125.65 in the 3 meter dive.

The men came in first in the 200 yard medley with a time of 1:56.94, also coming in first was Marc Okimura in the 100 meter breast stroke with a time of 1:01.00 and coming in right behind him was teammate was Scott Jones clocking a time of 1:03.98.

John Roche did well coming in second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:19.12. Roche also placed third in the 1,000 yard freestyle finishing in 10:58.59

The Leopards’ Adam Gray took second in the 1 meter dive with a score of 229.40 and Jacob Tittl took third scoring 189.45.

In the 3 meter dive Gary took third scoring 177.25 and Tittl took second tallying up a score of 185.95.

The swim team will take part in the Vegas Invitational from Friday to Sunday in Las Vegas.
