The Campus Activities Board and International Student Organization held a Japan relief event Tuesday in Sneaky Park to raise money for those in need.

The event, which included food and music, drew a crowd of about 80.

“I wanted to come out to not only help show support for the people suffering in Japan, but also to show the unity that the school has with the many different clubs offered,” junior business administration major Sarah Prosenko said.

There was a table where students could make donations and pick up ribbons to wear and show their support.

“Our goal of the day was to get any help we can … to show our love and support for the people suffering in Japan,” senior business administration major and ISO President Mengyun Yeh said.

“I know people from Japan and there are also people in our club, who have family there (and) have personal experiences to share,” Yeh said.

CAB and ISO encouraged students to eat and make any kind of donation they could to the relief effort.

Campus residents enjoyed the food, which was covered by their meal plans, while commuters paid $7 for their meal.

The proceeds raised will go to the Red Cross’ Japan relief effort.

The clubs set $500 as a fundraising goal for the day’s event, said CAB Philanthropy Chairwoman Nicole Wood.

“I loved looking around and seeing the faces of multiple clubs offered here on campus coming together for a good cause,” junior business administration major Heather Sheridan said.

The Red Cross recently traveled around the affected areas of Japan and saw how America’s donations have been helping the survivors.

“It not only shows unity within the individual clubs it also shows that the students here really do care and are willing to help,” Sheridan said.

ISO and CAB are still accepting donations. For those interested in making a donation, contact CAB at 909-593-3511, ext. 4424 or ISO at ext. 4130.
