Pastel colored walls, a surfboard, pictures trimmed in bamboo, an overall relaxed environment and tasteful bowls of food are what the new restaurant Bowl of Heaven has to offer.
Located at 2087 Foothill Blvd. in La Verne, Bowl of Heaven is different from the average juice or smoothie bar because it also offers delicious and highly nutritious bowls.
The first location opened in Rancho Santa Margarita more than a year ago and since then the small chain has continued to expand. Bowl of Heaven now has seven locations throughout California, Arizona, Idaho and Nevada.
“I’ve always wanted to help people and this gives us the opportunity to help people,” Rick Sweatt , co-owner of Bowl of Heaven, said.
The main goal of Bowl of Heaven is to provide a lifestyle complete with energy and health.
“I was surprised at how good it really is. I didn’t know honey and granola went so well together,” Renee Bailey, a customer, said.
The original concept of the acai bowl was adopted from Hawaii and is a healthy alternative to the wide range of unhealthy food options.
The acai bowl is high in antioxidants and includes a blend of frozen acai, bananas, berries and the Bowl of Heaven’s exclusive g3 super fruit blend, which gives a super charge of extra energy.
The bowl is then topped with fresh fruit, granola, coconut and honey to add texture and an orchestra of flavor.
The bowls do not contain any added artificial sugar and most of the ingredients used in the bowls and smoothies are organic.
The owners, Rick Sweatt and Tammy Records chose the city of La Verne because they appreciated the connection among the community.
“Everyone has been welcoming and excited about what we are doing,” Sweatt said.
The restaurant also provides a weight loss program that educates their customers on eating healthy.
The weight loss program consists of homeopathic drops, a diet cookbook and daily planner.
Sweatt knows firsthand that the weight loss program works after he lost 39 pounds in 46 days on the plan.
“I wasn’t having any cravings,” Sweatt said.
Bowl of Heaven plans to host weight loss challenges that the customers and community members will be invited to participate. These challenges are designed to help get people excited about their health and provide them with the support they need to succeed.
“I’d be interested in trying out the program to lose weight,” Maalik Bailey, a customer, said.
The owners at Bowl of Heaven want to stay connected with the people of La Verne by purchasing locally grown fruits and honey.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The ribbon cutting grand opening event will be on Nov. 29.
