Soakfest presented an opportunity for students to beat the heat, enjoy aquatic activities and free refreshments.
The fifth annual event took place on the South Quad on Tuesday afternoon.
“Soakfest is a great way to end the year,” David Asbra, ASULV executive vice president said. “There is free food, free shirts and water slides.”
The event had a plethora of inflatable, aquatic fun. There was a log jammer themed water slide, traditional water slide, water gun tag and slip and slide. Also, there was a human-sized translucent hamster ball that students raced through a track.
“These (water slides) are fun beyond fun,” Jan Pfennings, sophomore kinesiology major, said.
Pfennings said this is his favorite event at ULV.
There were also free tank tops that said “Have you seen any traps?” on the front and “Cause I brought the traps” on the back. More than 400 tank tops were gone within the first 10 minutes.
The Greasy Wiener Food Truck, funnel cakes and a selection of smoothies were free to students.
A small amount of students in their bathing suits kept a consistent stream of activity the inflatables. Others sat in the shade.
“This was a cool and different event,” freshman business major Tiffany Mancuso said. “None of my friends at other colleges have events like this.”
