Phi Sigma Sigma sorority held its From Her Cowboy Boots to Her Phi Sig Roots event Oct. 1 at the Hanawalt House and featured a watermelon eating contest, games and good old southern styled hospitality.
“Phi Sigs truly appreciate that such an energetic, diverse group of people came out on a Wednesday night,” said Rosa Vargas, the development chair of Phi Sigma Sigma.
The country themed event filled the Hanawalt House with more than 50 people.
There was a country photo booth complete with haystacks and sunflowers for guests to take photos with their friends.
The twang of country music was in the air while various games and activities were offered, in addition to picnic-styled food, dessert and beverages.
The sorority women as well as their guests line-danced the night away to likes of Luke Bryan and Kenny Chesney.
“I personally had a lot of fun meeting new faces and spending time with my sisters,” Vargas said.
Phi Sigma Sigma’s annual Rock-a-Thon philanthropy event will be from noon Oct. 15 to noon Oct. 16 to raise money for college readiness programs helping underprivileged youth.
