Upland resident Joe Defazio takes a personal moment to admire his artwork while being directed by one of the teachers, Jen Rosen at Claremont Craft Ales. Defazio found Art On Tap through Groupon.com after seeing a similar establishment in northern California and wanted to try it out. Each step of the painting is explained and also demonstrated, including which brush to use and which colors to combine for a desired hue. Rosen, along with Mary Beth Fletcher (not pictured), created Otterspace Arts – a freelance art company with classes for all age groups – including Art on Tap. Claremont Craft Ales sells craft beers, all of which are brewed in house. Among them are Jacaranda Rye IPA, Willow Blonde Ale, and Barrel Aged Big Dalton – a bourbon barrel aged smoked porter. / photo by Helen Arase
