Tickets should be more accessible

Many University of La Verne students waited in line April 15 for a chance to obtain limited tickets to see rapper 2 Chainz in this year’s LaVernapalooza concert.

Ticket distribution started at 10 a.m. that day, and the line spanned from Fanascht Court all the way around the Campus Center. Pit tickets were given to students on a first-come, first-served basis, and regular tickets were given after the pit tickets are all distributed. However, regular tickets were limited as well.

Ticket distribution usually falls on an inconvenient time where most students are in class. LaVernapalooza is a fun event that all students should have the opportunity to partake in, so why not schedule ticket distribution during a time when a majority of the campus community can participate?

Tickets could be distributed through an online lottery allowing anyone with a smartphone or internet access to have the opportunity to receive a ticket.

This would not only solve the problem of students skipping out of class early or ditching class completely, but it would also afford an equal chance for anyone to obtain a ticket.

If more students are able to obtain the tickets easily, LaVernapalooza could become a grander event than it already is, to not only increase marketing and promotion, but to generate school spirit and excitement for one of the school’s biggest events of the year.

Bringing convenience to the ticket distribution would not cause students to miss class while ensuring they would be able to attend the concert. It is a win-win situation that should be considered.
