University of La Verne students won five awards Saturday at the San Bernardino Valley College Film Festival.
Most of the winning entries were senior projects. The films all ranged from comedy, horror and documentary.
“The Transformation” is a short teen werewolf comedy. Writer, director and co-producer McKinley Pollock won best screenplay. Christopher Mitzel and James Perez won best cinematography for the film as well.
The award for best producer went to Melanie Rodriguez and Kaitlin Hollingsworth for the horror and suspense film “Hunting Shadows,” which was written, directed and co-produced by Hollingsworth.
Jetske Wauran won Best News/Documentary for his film, “Depression: The Hidden Struggle.”
Jeff Clarke won best editing for Serena Ghazzawi’s comedy film, “Hux.”
Two other ULV entries were screened at the film festival as well, “Logan’s Candies” and “Harrison McIntosh.”
“Logan’s Candies is a documentary short by Scott Feuerhelm, Armando Tapia and Christian Reina.
“Harrison McIntosh” is also a documentary short by Feuerhelm, Tapia and Reina.
The documentaries are about a candy shop in Ontario and a ceramicist who is 100 years old.
