Jazz Music
Sundays at the Morgan presents Kathy Kosins and the University of La Verne faculty jazz quartet at 6 p.m. Sunday in Morgan Auditorium. The jazz quartet features Steve Alaniz on saxophone, Reed Gratz on piano, Andrew Ford on bass and Bob Dominguez on drums. Admission is free, but donations to the music department are accepted.
‘Chalk Boy’
The theater department will open its show, “The Chalk Boy” by Joshua Conkel, next week. The production will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Jane Dibbell Cabaret. Admission is free, but there is a suggested $5 donation.
Film Fest
The sixth annual 909 Film Festival at Pitzer College will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 in Benson Auditorium. Four films by La Verne students will be featured at the festival: Scott Feuerhelm’s “Lost,” Sandra Velarde’s “La Maison de Fous,” Christian Reina’s “Harrison McIntosh” and Nicolette Vanligten’s “Lost.” Admission is free.
Scholarship
The non-profit organization United by Music is providing Dream Act students with scholarships. The application deadline is Oct. 19. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a 2.0 grade point average or higher and be present at the United by Music concert Nov. 6. For more information, visit unidosporlamusica.org.
