‘Chalk Boy’
The theater department’s performance of “Chalk Boy,” written by Joshua Conkel, portrays the lives of four teenage girls living in a small town that has been plunged into chaos. The last show dates are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Jane Dibbell Cabaret. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. There is a $5 suggested donation for admission.
Poetry Reading
PEN Center Literary Award recipient Victoria Chang will hold a public reading of her poetry at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the University Chapel.
Cabaret LIVE!
The next theater department’s next Cabaret LIVE! event will be “Improv Insanity” at 10 p.m. Wednesday in the Jane Dibbell Cabaret. Admission is free.
909 Film Fest
The annual 909 Film Festival returns at 7 p.m. Friday in Benson Auditorium at Pitzer College. The work of four La Verne student filmmakers will be featured. Admission is free.
‘English Vinglish’
Claremont McKenna College will present the play “English Vinglish,” directed by Gauri Shinde, for its Semester of Bollywood series at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The play is about an Indian woman visiting New York and learning English. It comments on gender and age relations within a middle-class Indian family.
Art in Pomona
The dA Center for the Arts in Pomona will open the Aztlán 2015 exhibit, “Mujeres de Aztlán/Desde el Corazon de la Mujer (Women of Aztlán/From the Hearts of Women)” at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The exhibit will run until Nov. 21.
