‘Violins of Hope’

The 2015 Kristallnacht Lecture will feature the author of “Violins of Hope,” James A. Grymes, at 4 p.m. Nov. 8. The book looks at the Holocaust through stories of different violins played by Jewish musicians.

Sundays at the Morgan

Violinist Vijay Gupta and pianist and artist-in-residence Grace Xia Zhao will perform “Chamber Meets Beethoven: Beauti­fully Blended” at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at Morgan Auditorium. There will also be guest performances by Trio Dinicu and the Saguaro Piano Trio.

Guest Speaker

Actress Lexy Fridell will speak at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Jane Dibbell Cabaret Theatre. Fridell was in the Broadway run of the Tony Award-winning “Avenue Q” production.

Auditions

The theater department is holding auditions for student directing projects. No experience is necessary, and it is for short scenes. Auditions will take place 3-5 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday in the Jane Dibbell Cabaret Theatre. Actors must be available from Dec. 9-12 for performances. Art Fiesta

The 12th Annual Padua Hills Art Fiesta is from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Padua Hills Theatre in Claremont. The fiesta will include an outdoor art show, music and arts and crafts demonstrations.
