Fetty Wap announced as LaVernapalooza 2016 headliner

The first week of the spring semester ended with the announcement of rapper Fetty Wap as the 2016 LaVernapalooza headliner.

The Associated Students of La Verne made the announcement in conjunction with campus radio station LeoFM immediately following Friday’s club fair in Sneaky Park.

“We just figured it would be the perfect time to do it,” sophomore Jessica Faber, ASULV vice president of communications, said. “Every artist is different, so we’re working with them and just making sure everything is going to be comfortable for them. Finalizing everything is the hardest part.”

Fetty Wap remains a part of the mainstream conversation, with his various Billboard chart-toppers still in the LeoFM rotation and with venerable celebrities like Rivers Cuomo covering his hits.

ASULV’s survey showed a wide variety of people were pulling for Fetty Wap, Faber said.

Other artists who were up for headliner consideration included up-and-coming trap-soul sensation Bryson Tiller as well as alt-rock stalwarts All Time Low and blink-182.

The RGF prodigy will take the Fox Theater Pomona stage on May 5 with an opener still to be announced.

ASULV plan to distribute tickets to the show in mid-April.
