Hikers chill out at Mt. Baldy’s scenic view

Upland resident Eric Carlson enjoys a drink with his friend Stuart Wright, who is visiting from Cincinnati, at Top of the Notch restaurant at Mt. Baldy. Wright and Carlson hiked from the parking area to the restaurant at the Notch, where they drank their favorite beer before hiking back down. Guests can take a 17-minute lift ride on the sugar pine chair lift or make the two-mile hike to get to the restaurant, a tubing area, ski lifts and more hiking routes to the Devil’s Backbone. This season has proven tough for Mt. Baldy with a lack of snow coming to the mountain, however activities are still available throughout the rest of the year. The restaurant hosts moonlight hikes, which consists of a barbecue and live music, in the summer every Friday and Saturday or before a full moon. A zip-line will be coming to Mt.
