The Center for Multicultural Services held an open house Sept. 7.
The event celebrated its one-year anniversary in its new home in the Athletics Pavilion, as well as to introduce its new assistant director, Misty Levingston.
Daniel Loera, director of multicultural affairs, said Levingston, who started the last week in August, has already brought new ideas and energy to the Center.
Levingston came to the University of La Verne from Cal State San Bernardino, where she was program coordinator for the Office of Student Engagement.
She will work with Loera on programming and initiatives related to the Center.
Loera said Levingston is student centered.
Levingston added that she hopes students will come to the center to “hang out.”
“It can be their living room, … their home away from home, they can have meetings in here, they can do nothing in here if that’s what they want to,” she said.
The Center for Multicultural Services in the Athletics Pavilion is open Monday through Friday.
