Aaron Esqueda, a sophomore agriculture business major at Cal Poly Pomona, works his second year at the kids’ pumpkin patch, where all pumpkins cost $5. Cal Poly’s Huntley College of Agriculture is the only state university agricultural program and grows 70,000 pumpkins for the event each year. Now celebrating its 25th year, the patch allows guests to enjoy traditional fall festivities including hay rides, a corn maze, a petting zoo and food. Located on Temple Avenue and University Drive in Pomona, it is open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until Oct. 31. Admission for the Pumpkin Festival is $4 for adults, $3 for children and free for children under 2. / photo by Katie Pyne
As Halloween season drew to a close, the Campus Activity Board wrapped up the festivities with a grand finale, "Hallowfest," Monday night on Citrus Lawn.
Each year, houses on Bonita Avenue can be visited by up to 5,000 trick-or-treaters excited to see the decorations. Houses with themes such as the movie “It,” the “Barbie” movie, alien invasions and even a house with a makeshift cemetery can be found in the festive community.
