Our nation is facing an unprecedented level of division and bigotry at this point. We at the University of La Verne need to work to ensure that the values of inclusivity, harmony, peace and equality that are the cornerstones of this institution are maintained on our campus (and in our lives). It’s not enough at this point in time to carry only ourselves with dignity and honor; we must become active in standing up against the attacks on our freedoms. We must all forget partisanship and be a voice and a force for peace and equality. I ask that we all become active – democracy is not a spectator sport.
“Speak your mind; even if your voice shakes.”
In the spirit of the 1960s, peace and equality to all.
