Administration dehumanizes migrants

A sense of humanity and empathy for immigrants has been replaced in the Trump era with rhetoric that demeans and characterizes each immigrant as a criminal.

What started out as a peaceful protest to hasten the processing of asylum claims into the U.S. has turned into a vicious attack on Central American migrants in Tijuana by our very own administration.

United States border agents tear gassed young children and families fleeing their countries attempting to cross the border with Mexico Sunday.

Agents at the San Ysidro entry point are processing fewer than 100 asylum petitions a day, according to the Associated Press.

Instead of inciting harm, we should want to help those who are experiencing displacement in their home country because of poor economic opportunities, religious persecution and political instability. We should send more people to process asylum petitions at a faster rate instead of characterizing each migrant as a threat to our national security.

According to the Migrant Policy Institute, one-fifth of the world’s migrants live in the United States.

There are over 5,000 migrants camped around Tijuana after making their way through Mexico via caravan. Instead of targeting these people, we should be helping them.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly suggested without evidence that the migrant caravans are full of hardened criminals, who are mostly poor and have no belongings, according to the Associated Press.

Trump tweeted Saturday: “All will stay in Mexico. If for any reason becomes necessary, we will CLOSE our Southern Border. There is no way that the United States will, after decades of abuse, put up with this costly and dangerous situation anymore.”

Assuming the people trying to enter the United States in search of better opportunities for their families are criminals is outrageous and un-American. It speaks volumes about our president, who is incapable of empathy.

Entering ILLEGALY is in fact a criminal act. Were you publishing the same article when Hussein Obama did the same exact thing, and actually deported far more immigrants than any other president?
This manufactured hate that you have towards the administration is in fact manufactured by your democratic socialist propaganda machines in the United States.

There are so many things you described that are completely false and biased. You guys are puppets.
