Composer and percussionist Andrés Espinoza will present a night of original modern jazz from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 29 in Morgan Auditorium.

Latin Grammy nominated artist Calixto Oviedo will also perform, along with other noteworthy Latin jazz musicians. 

The event will kick off this year’s Sundays at the Morgan concert series.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

One Book, One University 

Brando Skyhorse, award-winning author and associate professor of creative writing at Indiana University, will be featured as keynote speaker for the annual One Book, One University lecture.

The student lecture will be held at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 9 in the Athletic Pavilion. 

Skyhorse will lecture and sign copies of his memoir, “Take This Man,” in the keynote lecture open to the public at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in Morgan Auditorium. 

Improv Drop-Ins

Ophelia’s Jump, a non-profit theater company in Upland, is hosting improvisation drop-ins from 10 a.m. to noon every Saturday.

Classes focus on a new topic every week. 

Anyone 18 years or older can attend the sessions, which cost $15.

‘Finally, the Poets’ 

Terisa Siagatonu, poet and mental health advocate, will explore themes of mental health and the healing power of poetry as she works to bridge the gaps toward collective healing and liberation. 

The event will be at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum at Claremont McKenna College.
