Dolphins turn Leopards’ tide

The men’s basketball team dropped their home opener, losing 72-65 to the Mt. St. Vincent Dolphins on Saturday at Frantz Athletic Court.

The loss was the fifth straight for the Leopards, who have not won a single game to open up the season.

The Leopards played from behind the entire contest, taking their only lead during the opening minute of the game.

The Leopards found themselves down 43-32 at halftime, shooting only 38 percent from the field and 20 percent from the charity stripe.

Junior guards Jordan Allen and Tevin McClain led all Leopard scorers in the first half with five points each.

The Leopards got to a quick start in the second half, scoring six points right out of the gate to narrow Mt. St. Vincent’s lead.

The Leopards were able to cut the lead down to six points late in the second half, but their comeback would come to a halt, and they would lose the game 72-65.

Sophomore guard Sinai Enoch, sophomore forward Seth Shaw and senior forward Jarid Taylor all ended in double figures, with Enoch leading all scorers with 14 points.

The Leopards were also defeated in their next matchup, losing 80-71 to the Whittier Poets on Wednesday.

The men’s basketball team will look to break its losing streak Sunday as the Leopards host the Puget Sound Loggers at noon at the Frantz Athletic Court.
