Photographer delves into newest project

Photographer Javier Álvarez discusses his new exhibit “Pérdio” in a video call from New York to a small audience in the Irene Carlson Gallery on Feb. 23. The exhibition is in conjunction with his newest photobook with the same name. The walls of the gallery in Miller Hall are full of pictures of squatters who took over an abandoned office building in São Paulo, Brazil, documenting their lives from 2013 to 2018.
