Track teams run to Redlands

The La Verne track and field teams competed in the Redlands Invitational on March 17 at Ted Runner Stadium.

With a time of 21.89 in the 200-meter, freshman sprinter Tyler Thomas finished fourth for the Leopards. He also ran in the 100-meter race, finishing in 11.03 seconds, a collegiate personal best.

In a time of 55.52, sophomore hurdler Joshua Collier finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdle. Collier also competed in the 110-meter hurdles and the 4×100-meter relay.

Ha’ani Untalan, sophomore jumper, achieved a personal record in the long jump with a distance of 4.99 meters, positioning her in ninth place. Untalan also took part in the 4×100-meter relay competition.

Freshman distance runner Destiny Espinoza placed 29th in the women’s 1500-meter with a time of 5:47.30. This was Espinoza’s sixth race of this season. 

Track and field’s next meet is Friday at the Westmont Classic Combined Events in Santa Barbara.

The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the APU Franson Last Chance meet last weekend, hosted at Azusa Pacific’s Cougar Athletic Stadium.
