Carlson Gallery

The Irene Carlson Gallery of Photography is exhibiting “While the Stars Look Down” by Fred Brashear Jr., a photographic depiction of extraterrestrial desert landscapes after sundown. 

Brashear teaches photography at the University of La Verne and is a Southern California artist who focuses on the interaction between humans and their natural environment. The installation in Miller Hall runs until Dec. 22.

Winter Concert

The La Verne Symphony Orchestra will play their classical synths for their Winter Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday in Morgan Auditorium. Music by German composer Johannes Brahms, Russian composer Dmitro Shostakovich, English composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and many more will be conducted by Sylvia Mann. Some of Mann’s own pieces will also be played.

Admission is free but there is a suggested $10 donation. 

‘Campus Celebs’

LeoFM hosts “Campus Celebs” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday where they invite notable students, faculty and staff to DJ and provide personal insight on themselves, campus activities and campus organizations. The next show features the University’s Interfaith Chaplain Zandra Wagoner on Dec. 14. Tune in to 107.9 LeoFM to hear from a key leader in implementing the core value of diversity and inclusivity on campus.

Ophelia’s Jump

The Garrison Theater in Claremont celebrates its 60th anniversary with history enriching showcase performances of “Bespoke Mosaic Shakespeare,” directed by Beatrice Casagran, founder and artistic director of Ophelia’s Jump Productions, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Food trucks will be available on 10th Street starting at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Visit eventbrite.com for more information and to reserve a spot.

The Glass House

The Swedish heavy metal band Katatonia makes a pit stop on their North American tour at the Glass House in Pomona on Friday with the doors opening at 7 p.m. Special guest appearances include Gost, the one man band of metal electronic dance music, and Thrown Into Exile, the American metalcore band. Tickets start at $39.87 and for more information visit dice.fm.
