New and vintage items – including jewelry, home decorations and clothing – were on hand at the Great Junk Hunt, Saturday at the Fairplex in Pomona.

The event was popular, with hundreds of treasure hunters from the region.

There was also live music and food trucks.

“What separates us from other events is the fact that we try and make it fun,” said JT Albers, the event coordinator. “We try to make it as unique as possible … we want people to walk in and be inspired.”

Some of the jewelers and designers sold their own work made of “upcycled” vintage pieces they found via estate sales or hand-me-downs.

Lisa Russell headed one of the jewelry booths, offering five pieces for $20. The jewels  included rings, Italian bracelets, necklaces and more. She also sold real silver pieces that were priced based on weight.

Other booths featured unique dishes, lamps, furniture and more.

“You can buy stuff like this at HomeGoods or whatever, but this just seems like better quality,” said Laura Gallagher, who was shopping at the Junk Hunt Saturday. “It just has more weight to it.”

The Great Junk Hunt moves across the state and the country. The Junk Hunt will be at the fairgrounds in Del Mar Friday and Saturday.
