Trigg Watson, a high-tech magician who recently appeared on America’s Got Talent, performed at Morgan Auditorium Monday.
When the curtain opened, the audience saw a long rectangular screen and a few glass table stands. Watson ran out from the side of the stage with a Go-Pro Camera that displayed video recording in real time.
The audience of 50 responded enthusiastically to Watson’s high energy.
In one of his many magic tricks of the night, Watson embraced current technology and used Amazon’s Alexa as a virtual assistant.
He directed the crowd to search for a playing card of their choice on their phones.
The crowd then held their phones up and showed the Go-Pro that was set up on stage beside him and a mysterious silver bag. He had Alexa ask questions to eliminate people.
The last person in the audience held the queen of spades card on their phone.
Watson then proceeded to grab the silver bag beside him and pulled out a folded up card hanging from a hook. After taking the card off and unfolding it, he revealed the queen of spades card. The audience gasped.
“The first magic trick I did on my parents when I was little was this. Just wait and see,” Watson said.
He moved his hands around a metal sphere as it stayed in place, to appear as if it was floating. The crowd was mesmerized until he revealed that he put a large soup spoon in his shirt to give the illusion that it was floating.
