The fall internship and job fair, hosted by the Academic and Career Services Office, was held Wednesday at the Campus Center.
The event included various local businesses looking to hire interns and entry level employees in fields including health, public utilities and business management.
About 40 students attended the event.
Students who attended got a small card that they could turn in for a Raising Cane’s meal and desserts if they stopped by three different tables.
One of the employers was Sarah Bailey, an operations manager at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders.
“We look for people that have interest in working with kids and also patience,” Bailey said.
Another employer was Jason Lara, utilities supervisor for the sewer and storm drain system in Upland’s Public Works Department.
Lara emphasized the importance of maintaining the city’s structures and ensuring that sewer lines function properly and prevent overflows.
A representative from Enterprise car rental company was also on hand, looking for the right applicants for its management training program Enterprise Mobility.
“(Enterprise has) a very entrepreneurial mindset that teaches people how to run a business from the ground up,” Amanda McGinnis, talent acquisition manager for Enterprise Mobility, said.
Students who attended appreciated the FaceTime with potential employers.
Brooklyn Clark, sophomore economics major, said that most of the job options offered were not of interest to her, she was drawn to the autism and disabilities job opportunity because she loves working with kids.
“I did have a good experience today checking out new job opportunities because although I’m in my second year, it’s never too early to get a head start,” Clark said.
“It’s always nice to come out and meet new people and connect with new people when they do the different types of fairs like this one or career fairs in general,” said Maddison Silva, junior digital media major.
She said was specifically interested in non-profit work and using her social media skills.
