CAB event emphasizes commuter students

The Campus Activities Board hosted a Sip Into Spring event Monday in Sneaky Park for commuter students.

Roughly 20 students attended the event, which included a raffle, matcha and coffee, and a flower bar.

Angelica Maria Morales, junior kinesiology major and one of the event coordinators, said she wants commuter students to feel welcome.

“Last semester I requested more commuter events because I noticed over the last couple semesters a lot of students that did not live on campus didn’t have a lot of options to take breaks from their classes by doing something enjoyable and fun,” Morales said. “Not a lot of students that live off campus get the opportunity to come on to the school’s regular campus activities.”

This is because so many campus events happen at night.

Leslie Covarrubias, freshman business administration major, and Jacqueline Lopez, freshman psychology major, both said they appreciated the event and its sentiment. And it’s always nice to have a little treat and flowers.

“I feel like sometimes I’m missing out on the college experience of … living on campus in a dorm,” Lopez said.

“I like how this event brought me and my friends together (to) hang out,” Esmeralda Sanchez, freshman biology major, said.
