Walkers hope for safe return of troops overseas

A walk for peace was held at noon, Wednesday. Doug Waite, director of multimedia services; Phil Hofer, director of the International and Study Abroad Center; Marilyn Schirk, a representative of Peace with Justice of Pomona Valley; and Kristen Johnson, senior, took part in this walk to express their concern for the lives being lost on both sides of the war. Waite said forming this vigil and walk stands for what he believes to be a unifying hope for peace. There is not just one opinion about the war; however, everyone wants the troops to come home safe, he said. The group walked in silent reflection from the Rock up Third Street and down Bonita Avenue before making their way to the peace pole where they embraced each other before parting.
