In the wake of the recent school shooting that took the innocent lives of two Saugus High School students and injured three others, “Saugus Strong” were the words of encouragement echoing throughout the Santa Clarita community as they began to take their first steps towards healing.
The Route 91 Massacre took the lives of 58 people and injured nearly 500 others. On the second anniversary of the shooting, survivors are still on the path toward healing as they work through emotional and physical trauma.
Through an informal survey asking University of La Verne students whether they think Christmas is celebrated too early, 18 out of 20 said they would like to have more of a nip in the air before ringing in the season.
Eric Bishop, a University of La Verne alumnus, who also held several positions at La Verne – including associate dean of academic advising, journalism professor and Campus Times adviser – was recently appointed president of Ohlone Community College in Fremont, California. He starts July 6.
