The La Verne softball team handed Worcester Polytechnic Institute their first losses of the season in a double-header Tuesday evening at Campus West, 4-1 and 14-7.
The softball team split a doubleheader against the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens after a strong fifth inning performance in game two Saturday. The Leopards lost game one, 9-4, and bounced back with a 10-5 win after late reassurance from the offense.
The La Verne softball team earned a 3-1 victory in their season opener against Hope International on Feb. 9 at Campus West. This win was followed by two more wins against Pacific Oregon University last Friday.
Aside from figuring out how to keep players in shape for next season, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused University of La Verne coaches to adapt to a new process of one of the most important parts of their job: recruiting.
La Verne coaches and players have been trying to adapt new and efficient ways of continuing the athletic department ever since the University closed its campus for the spring semester due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
