With a new group of women, a new coach and a new set of routines the University of La Verne’s Spirit Squad is looking to make sure every student is proud to be a Leopard.

Going to games, supporting the University of La Verne’s athletic teams and cheering for them are a big part of life for many students on campus.

The notion of school spirit and cheering at university athletic events has become a hot topic recently.

All around campus cheerleaders are wearing ribbons in protest. After next week, the cheerleading squad will be officially “ground bounded” by the University in an effort to protect the women from injury.

The University of La Verne cheerleading squad underwent major alterations in the past year from changes of captains to a new adviser. With so much change, the squad faces the challenge of working extra hard to obtain chemistry and confidence among the women.
