A sophomore biology major and resident assistant at the University of La Verne, Emely Ortega-Martinez appears to be like any other college student – young, athletic, studious and friendly. But she is also undocumented and one of the 700,000 DACA recipients in the United States.

An eclectic group of some of the University of La Verne’s most diligent creative writing students gathered for the launch of the 18th annual Prism Review literary magazine Tuesday in the interfaith chapel.
A New York University study last year found that 70 percent of college students are stressed because of finances. Another study, this one from the Cooperative Institutional Research Program at UCLA, found that college freshmen are reporting the lowest levels of emotional well-being since the study started in 1985.
That is because crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter, GoFundMe and IndieGogo make raising money easier than ever before. You just go online and set up a profile, tell people what you are raising money for and how much you need, and people can find your profile and donate. It is that easy.
