In the wake of the recent school shooting that took the innocent lives of two Saugus High School students and injured three others, “Saugus Strong” were the words of encouragement echoing throughout the Santa Clarita community as they began to take their first steps towards healing.
The Route 91 Massacre took the lives of 58 people and injured nearly 500 others. On the second anniversary of the shooting, survivors are still on the path toward healing as they work through emotional and physical trauma.
University President Devorah Lieberman and Provost Jonathan Reed presented a draft of a resolution on Oct. 26 to students and faculty listing the actions they plan to take in the coming weeks and months to improve the treatment of minority groups on campus.
Aiden Aizumi, a transgender activist and University of La Verne alumnus, shared his experience in honor of Transgender Rememberance Day on Nov. 20 via Zoom. This event also centered around remembering those in the transgender community who have died this past year due to violence.
