The University of La Verne is starting up a Staff Senate to represent non-faculty employees in the shared governance process, officials announced last month. All administrative, professional and classified employees will be eligible to serve as senators in the body, which will function similarly to the Faculty Senate.

The Johnson Family Plaza was covered in tents, chairs and tables for the Spring Boutique last weekend. At 8 a.m., March 26, there were about nine booths participating, selling everything from homemade creations, crafts, jewelry, magnets, purses, bags and various other knickknacks.

The Budget Advisory Task Force is considering a proposal to increase the annual salary of classified employees and administrative/professional employees by $3,000 and $2,400 per year, respectively.

In an attempt to increase salary wages for classified and administrative professionals at the University of La Verne, the classified and administrative professional committees proposed a 4.8 percent increase to the Budget Advisory Task Force.

In 2003, at the request of the Board of Trustees, President Stephen Morgan appointed a task force assigned with the duty of developing a compensation increase recommendation each year.

Results from the first year of a three-year salary plan to improve the compensation to faculty, administrative and professionals (A&P) and classified employees at the University of La Verne show that progress is being made.
