Comedy and poetry collided in the theater department’s opening of “Tartuffe” April 20 in Dailey Theatre.

The theater department explored the struggles of poverty and grief that cholos and cholas face in East Los Angeles in their adaptation of Luis Alfaro’s play “Eletcricidad.”

The question as to why the renowned theoretical physicist Werner Heisen­berg traveled from Berlin, Germany, to Copenhagen, Denmark, to meet his former mentor, physicist Niels Bohr, in 1941 has been an ongoing discussion among scholars for decades, and it is also the subject matter of the University of La Verne production of Michael Frayn’s Tony Award winning play “Copenhagen” at Dailey Theatre.

Students from the theater department held their second Cabaret LIVE! event Wednesday in the Jane Dibbell Cabaret Theatre.

Issues such as eating disorders, divorce, single motherhood, victim blaming and alcoholism were portrayed Wednesday through Saturday as the final projects of the Theatre and Community course taught by Steve Kent and Alma Martinez in Jane Dibbel Cabaret.

For any person who longs to create — whether it be a writer, a photographer, a designer, a musician, or in this case, an artist — the best type of inspiration comes from when you surrender yourself to the thing that you are most afraid of.
