Alumna Savannah Henry, along with the team of senior TV broadcasting majors Jacqueline Hall and Florencia Schinoff, and 2018 alumnae Andrea Leiva and Tina Sanchez, have won a Western Access Video Excellence award for their dramatic short film, “AVA.”

Of the 10 student films Don Pollock, professor of communications, submitted to the Inland Empire Media Academy International Film Festival, eight were showcased Saturday and Sunday at San Bernardino Valley College.

Advanced video production students and La Verne faculty and staff took home five WAVE awards and had their documentaries screened at the 909 Film Festival on Oct. 24.

LVTV-3, La Verne Community Television, and the University of La Verne produced a winner and four finalists in the Alliance for Community Media’s Western Area Video Excellence Awards, known as the WAVEs.

The University of La Verne communications department has a lot to brag about.
