The California Legislature has voted to implement Senate Bill 903, would ban artificial intelligence chatbots that provide mental health therapy services and will place regulations when AI is used in health spaces.

Artificial intelligence, with its rapid development and increasingly easy access the past few years, has crept into the college classroom, causing many within and outside of education to question what this may mean for the future.

Three panelists joined the University of La Verne College of Law and Public Service to give their 11th Annual Symposium, titled “Artificial Intelligence (AI)”. Which focused on the impacts of AI and how it can be implemented into everyday life of schools and law firms. 

Annie Bui, a generative AI expert; Dan Munsey, San Bernardino County’s fire chief, and Steven Haskins, a public administration innovator, presented a lecture titled “AI and Gen AI in Law and Public Service: Current State and Future Outlook,” on Wednesday at the College of Law and Public Service in Ontario before an audience of about 40 people.

Open AI, the company that owns ChatGPT, is on track to release a sophisticated artificial intelligence model with “Strawberry.” With apparent enhanced reasoning abilities, Strawberry could solve math and coding problems with improved accuracy. But no AI is without its serious pitfalls – particularly in education.
