Brother’s Forum is a club at the University of La Verne established by Emmett Terrell 40 years ago to cater towards Black men's health, academics, and personal struggles. This year, the club plans to rebrand to be more inclusive, and has a new name – Kings’ Ascension.

After a two-year hiatus, the Spirit of La Verne awards ceremony and reception was held Tuesday at the Ludwick Center Sacred Place.

The city of La Verne has taken steps toward building relationships in the community with the Cultural Awareness and Social Inclusion Committee, created in 2019 with the intention of educating residents on cultural awareness and creating a safe space for everyone of all backgrounds.

The La Verne Police Department and the FBI are continuing to investigate an apparent hate crime involving an online threat and arson that occurred on campus last Thursday and Friday, prompting the cancellation of classes.

In response to last week's apparent hate crimes –  a racist threat on social media directed at a specific group of students, followed by arson in a student's car – several students rallied in Johnson Family Plaza to condemn these actions, while faculty discussed the appropriate response at the Faculty Senate meeting Monday.

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill Sept. 27 that will move the primary elections from June to March in an attempt to claim more attention from presidential candidates.
